    Oak Ridge “MANHATTAN PROJECT”​ &

    NUCLEAR SCIENCE WORKSHOP

    American Museum of Science and Energy

    ​The Manhattan Project was the code name for the top- secret government project that assembled some of the greatest scientific minds of the era which led to the development of the first nuclear bomb and ultimately changed the course of history.

    Join us to explore the history of Oak Ridge, Y-12, K-25, and the original Graphite Reactor at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

    Scouts will participate in a ½ day Nuclear Science Workshop (which fulfills the requirements for the BSA Nuclear Science Merit Badge) as well as a Science of Circuits Class and an American Museum of Science & Energy tour.

    A 3- hour Department of Energy Bus tour is also available as a stand by option on Friday, June 1st starting at 8:00am on a first come basis.

    SCIENCE OF CIRCUITS CLASS
    Electricity is in the air as students create series and parallel circuits to test materials for conductive and insulative properties.

    DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY BUS TOUR*

    *Stand by only – must arrive at Museum of Science and Energy by 8am on Saturday. The guided bus tour includes highlights of the history of Oak Ridge and the history of science and technology at the three U.S. Department of Energy/Oak Ridge facilities.
